Choosing
a certification can be overwhelming. There is a lot to consider when choosing
a certification as they are in abundance. We recommend researching and educating
yourself on the various programs. With the competition in the fitness industry
today, many instructors and certifying centers have jumped on the bandwagon with
various degrees of training. Although some may be talented teachers, many teach
exercises based on ideas of Joseph Pilates' work. These changes fundamentally
alter the nature of Pilates.
Things that are important to look for are: Number
of Pilates sessions you are required to have prior to entering a certification
program. Apprenticeship hours required for your learning and teaching practice.
Will continuing education be made available to you throughout your teaching career?
This type of education is not necessarily learned from a book, it is important
for you to feel. In order to understand the philosophy, and be taught from a reputable
and experienced Certification Center.
When you are in question about choosing
what is right for you, take private lessons from various teachers certified in
the method. I promise you will then know for yourself which pathway you will take.
When choosing, it is important to know the Certification Center's Credentials,
and what their Master Teacher's credentials are. These are the ONLY true Master
Teacher's in the industry, also known as the "First Generation of Teachers".
They are Romana Kryzanowska, Mary Bowen, Ron Fletcher, Kathy Grant, Lolita San
Miguel - (known as the "Elders").
Why
learn secondhand when you can train with the best?
